HERE ARE SOME ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS WE GET ASKED A LOT:

WHY ARE YOU MAKING ME PAY YEARLY?
Our initial design includes 1 year of hosting for free. The servers and the time we spend keeping everything running takes a lot of time and resources. Your fee helps to pay for the hosting.

WHO OWNS MY DOMAIN?
Your domain name is yours. You are simply choosing to use us as your provider. (Just like your phone number is yours and you get to choose who carries your plan-- like Verizon, Sprint, etc).

WHAT IF I WANT TO HIRE ANOTHER WEB DESIGNER? HOW DO I GET MY FILES?
While maintaining Silver Maple Media hosting: If you or someone else wishes to modify your site, we can provide you with the FTP information needed to access your files directly. You do not have to rely on us to make changes to your site. Please be aware that once we have provided FTP access to your files, we no longer provide tech support for the site. Make sure whoever has access to your FTP log in knows what they are doing.

With a new service provider: If you would like an entirely new site, you may also delete the site we built for you and upload a new one with a new service provider. No pre-paid hosting fees with us are refunded. Silver Maple Media owns the copyright to any site/media we create for you and those files may not be transferred to a new provider. Your new provider may not copy Silver Maple Media designs in your new site.

WILL YOU TRANSFER MY DOMAIN OR FILES FOR ME?
No. Your new web designer must initiate the transfer at the new registrar. We will be cooperative with sending you the "authorization code" to complete the transfer.

IF I TRANSFER, WILL I GET A REFUND?
You may transfer your name away from us at any time, and we will be completely cooperative of the process. If you transfer away from our service, none of the fees are refundable. BUT depending on your registrar, however long you registered your name with us (1-4 years), your name will still be active for that amount. So you won't have to "re-register" and pay the domain fee at the new registrar.

What is included with this payment?

WHY DO YOU REQUIRE A RETAINER?
We serve awesome small businesses, and when life gets crazy, we want to be able to serve you quickly and efficiently without having to bill you for services.

WHY ARE YOUR RATES SO HIGH?
They're not, actually. For custom design work, we're some of the least expensive around. Yes, there are cheaper options, and we encourage you to find the best solution for your needs. We even encourage you to combine services to get what you need (for example, using a logo design site to create your logo and then bringing it to us to complete your site). Though having all your work done under one "roof" makes things easier sometimes.

WHY ARE YOUR RATES SO LOW?
Our overhead is low and our target market is small businesses like yourself. We pride ourselves in having some of the best rates for custom design around!
Also,because we ask for a retainer, we are sure that we'll get paid. You're not supplementing the credit of another customer.

IF I TRANSFER, WILL I GET A REFUND?
If your retainer balance is more than $200 when you transfer, we will refund the balance over $200.
